The move from a cot to a bed is a big one in your toddler’s life, marking the move from complete reliance on you to growing independence. Many parents support the move around the time their toddler is starting toilet training – access to the toilet is important in this process – and the upgrade to a bed usually occurs around 24 months. Beds for toddlers and younger children are usually sized for their smaller bodies, although many beds retain features of cots – like raised or adjustable sides – to prevent falls during sleep.
