Frequently Asked Questions

Should babies wear hair clips?

When it comes to safety, the general rule for most accessories–including baby hair clips–is to not leave your bub unattended while they’re wearing them. This means that while it’s generally okay to style your little one with hair clips, it’s important that you keep a close eye on them. Generally, it’s best to avoid or remove the hair clips altogether when they’re in a pram or in a car seat, and all headwear should be removed when your bub is sleeping or napping.

Should infants wear bows?

Bows and baby headbands are a common accessory and they’re mostly safe to wear, provided that they’re made from appropriate material and sized properly. When choosing which bows to use, make sure to avoid pieces with metal or plastic inserts. Additionally, find a bow or headband that’s not too tight and made with easily removable elastics. For your baby’s health and safety, avoid wearing baby headbands and bows too long, avoid placing them near your baby’s soft spot, and always remove any hair accessories before napping or sleeping to avoid any hazards.

Are baby hair ties safe?

Like most baby hair accessories, hair ties are safe to use under the right precautions. One thing to remember is that these elastics can easily be pulled off by your tiny tot–which can become a choking hazard! Make sure to tie the hair securely and high enough–without it hurting, of course–so that your baby can’t pull on it.
