This is the only monitor I've used so I can't really compare it to anything, but I quite like it. I chose this one because the owl looks much nicer in a nursery than a normal monitor. You can choose the sensitivity of it so it picks sounds up quite well (if the sensitivity is reasonably high it will pick sounds up from the other end of the house). It isn't receiving noise the whole time, but only starts displaying the sound once an initial noise has been made (e.g. baby coughs so then it turns on. If no subsequent noises are made it turns off again). This is good for sleeping so there's not a constant monitor noise coming from the parent monitor. One feature I wish it had was if you could press a button to activate it, rather than it being activated solely by hearing a noise, just to check on baby. However, I discovered that if you hold down the talk button for a few seconds it activates it anyway. Probably the biggest complaint I have with it is that it has a terrible battery life! It loses battery even when it's not turned on. Luckily I don't use it much other than at night when it can be plugged in. Unless you've just finished charging it, pretty much every time I've used it unplugged (e.g. hang out the washing while baby's napping), it starts beeping at me because of low battery. Other than that, it's pretty good and I don't really have any other complaints. The night light feature is handy as well.
