What to expect

What’s happening to my baby?

Your baby’s muscles and vital organs are maturing, so it’s important to keep up a healthy, varied diet to ensure they are getting as many essential vitamins and minerals as possible. By now your baby is measuring in at around 40cm from head to toe and would resemble a little doll if you could see them now. They are even sucking their own thumb as they prepare this reflex for feeding on the outside.

What’s happening to me?

Around week 29 you will probably discuss getting a pertussis, or whooping cough, vaccination. This can be an ideal time for the vaccination as you are passing antibodies on to your baby and there is a reduced risk of you catching the disease yourself.

As your baby and your body grow, and you are really starting to feel the effects of the pregnancy, it’s a good time to reassess your lifestyle. Make any necessary alterations to ensure you retain a good quality of life and stay as happy and healthy as possible. Mental health is important too, and you should discuss your feelings and any concerns you have with a specialist or even close friends and family.
